MISSION

Living with Narcolepsy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia can be incredibly challenging, particularly for teenagers. These disorders typically onset between the ages of ten and twenty and can severely impact an individual's quality of life. Unfortunately, it often takes an average of ten years and six different doctors for a correct diagnosis, which can cause significant delays in receiving proper treatment and support.

Our goal with The Sleep Disorders Project is to reduce the time frame for diagnosis and help identify high school students with Narcolepsy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia before their symptoms begin to affect their daily lives. By raising awareness and providing information on these conditions, we hope to create a more supportive and inclusive community that is better equipped to identify and support individuals with these disorders.

We believe that through early detection and intervention, we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by Narcolepsy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia.

VISION

Our project aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by sleep disorders. Starting with our local community, we plan to expand to underserved areas in Colorado and eventually scale nationally. While there are already many nonprofits and foundations working in this space, our focus is on improving recognition, diagnosis, and support at the local level.

We are inspired by the work of organizations like Narcolepsy Network, who report that it can take up to ten years for an individual to receive a proper diagnosis. Our goal is to significantly decrease this timeline and provide support to high school students before their lives are negatively impacted by this disorder.
